Elisabeth Ross
UKRC, MBACP (Accr)My aim as a psychotherapist is to provide a respectful, confidential and safe environment where you may talk through issues that trouble you. Although everyone who comes for therapy is unique, some common reasons why men, women and couples come to me include:
- Workplace stress
- Anxiety or depression
- Self-identity and confidence issues
- Sexuality and intimacy difficulties
- Obsessive or compulsive behaviours (including addiction issues around alcohol or drugs, sex, porn or gambling)
- Managing experience of trauma
- Surviving abuse (sexual, physical, psychological, emotional or spiritual)
It's ok not to know exactly what troubles you at first - I can help you identify your needs. You might not feel that you have a problem at all; you just want to use psychotherapy to explore your potential and feel more fulfilled.
About me
I am an expert in working with trauma. I have completed a post-graduate diploma in humanistic/gestalt psychotherapy, a diploma in counselling, an advanced diploma in forensic psychotherapy, a diploma in supervision, a post-graduate certificate in couple therapy and a certificate in coaching and sex therapy. I have also completed further training in working with trauma, cognitive therapy, group therapy and play therapy.
My experience includes working with the voluntary, public and statutory sector with adults, children, adolescents, parents, families and couples and all types of relationships: married/unmarried, people who choose to live apart, same sex partners or partners who want to separate.
I became the Chair of the Forensic Therapists Association in Britain in 2008 and was previously the director of One in Four UK, a charity which specialises in working with survivors of child sexual abuse, from 2005 to 2009. I am also on the board of the Criminal Justice Forum of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Prior to moving into psychotherapy, I worked in the diplomatic service and hold an MA in political science.
