Reverse Therapy™
In 2004 Mark became one of the first therapists to train in Reverse Therapy, a new treatment which is attracting national media attention after achieving remarkable success in the treatment of M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.
Reverse Therapy is a Bodymind healing process which teaches people how to 'listen' to symptoms and take corrective action to restore emotional harmony. It is based on the realisation that some illnesses - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E. included - are actually glandular disorders which are triggered by Bodymind through the Hypothalamus when Bodymind picks up that the individual is at risk of emotional harm from the environment. Reverse Therapy is not a form of psychotherapy : it recognises the physical nature of the symptoms of C.F.S./M.E. and Fibromyalgia and treats them accordingly.
Reverse Therapy investigates the link between symptoms and unhealthy situations and works out what Bodymind is prompting the person to do about those situations. This part of our work is called 'working with the symptom-message'. Reverse Therapy also teaches clients how to raise Body awareness so that symptoms can be noticed and acted upon more quickly and easily.
As well as being applied to C.F.S/M.E. and Fibromyalgia, Reverse Therapy is now being applied to a range of other conditions. More information about Reverse Therapy is available on the Reverse Therapy website www.reversetherapy.com and in the book by Dr John Eaton: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia - The Reverse Therapy™ Approach.
Testimonial by one of Mark's Reverse Therapy clients
"I have had Post Viral Fatigue for 12 years with restricted mobility, have never been bed-bound but sometimes, at the beginning, house-bound. I have tried numerous complementary therapies, all of which helped with the symptoms but did not, and did not claim to, cure the illness.
In December last year I was asked by another member of the group if I had heard of Reverse Therapy. After some investigations and being in email contact with someone who found all her symptoms had disappeared using the technique, I decided to give it a try.
After the first session I was able to banish my brain fog for at least an hour and was so thrilled that I danced round the kitchen, a physical impossibility a week before.
Over the next few weeks I have seen all my symptoms disappear, with slight re-occurrences which I am again able to get rid of with my message and my reaction to it.
I used to pace my activities and have at least three rests a day, I rarely need one rest now. Only three times in the last six months have I had that dreadful exhaustion which used to be a regular occurrence after any excursion and never during this time have I felt that I was going to have a relapse.
Reverse Therapy is an incredible idea, but it has worked for me and for many others. I like to say that it has given me permission to do things again, to live a normal life. It really is worth looking into."
