Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a powerful form of massage that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Some of the techniques used are similar to Swedish massage but the movements are generally slower and the pressure deeper and more focused on relieving specific areas of tension and pain.
Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:
- Chronic pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Limitation of movement and stiffness
- Muscle tension or spasm
- Osteoarthritis pain
- Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash etc.)
- Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
People often notice improved range of motion immediately after a deep tissue massage.
